From Stage to Studio: Baden Donegal from Ocean Alley Visits Zealand Tattoo
Christchurch recently had a special visitor. Baden Donegal, the frontman of Ocean Alley, stopped by Zealand Tattoo while the band was in town for Electric Avenue.
Even with a tight touring schedule, Baden took the time to visit the studio for a session that was all about personal stories and meaningful designs. The tattoos were created by Inkee, one of the artists at Zealand Tattoo, who worked closely with Baden to bring his ideas to life.
Designing with Purpose
Baden came in with a few ideas for small, sticker or stamp sized tattoos, including a special piece to mark a milestone in his life: the birth of his daughter.
Preparing draft designs ahead of the session allowed Inkee to make the most of the time available. By the time Baden arrived, the creative process moved smoothly. Together they refined the designs, balancing speed and care so that every piece was meaningful and precise.
A Relaxed, Creative Session
What makes tattooing so special is the combination of artistry and human connection. Between music, conversation, and the buzz of the tattoo machine, the session was laid back yet focused.
Seeing artists trust us with something permanent is always a privilege. Baden’s session with Inkee was a reminder of why we do what we do: creating personal, meaningful tattoos that tell a story while sharing a space of creativity and trust.
Looking Forward
We’re incredibly grateful to Baden for stopping by Zealand Tattoo and trusting Inkee with his tattoos while he was in Christchurch.
Whether it’s a small piece or a larger design, the door is always open to artists visiting Christchurch or Queenstown.
If you’re in town and looking for a studio that values personal stories, creativity, and a premium tattoo experience, we’d love to work with you.
